Treating Us With Contempt

One of the things that winds me up the most is the way that this government has breed a culture of treating the individual with contempt. For everything that they do there has to be a piece of legislation, and this in turn creates problems, when on almost every single occasion common sense would solve it.

Something that falls slap bang into that category is food allergy warnings. Now, I can fully understand the need to place warnings on food products, but sometimes I have to question whether it was actually worth it. I’ll give an example, a warning on a choclate bar that contains nuts is fair enough, as you may not know what’s in that bar. However, when I went to cook myself at piece of fish yesterday, which was an individual piece of cod with the packaging saying “100% cod” on it. It too had an allergy warning “contains fish”. Well, I hope it bloody well does I thought.

Anyway, back to the point. The warning is completely pointless, and is about as bad as “warning: contains nuts”, on a bag of peanuts! Please stop treating the consumer with idiotic contempt. If it obvious what it is,  is there really any need for a warning on it?
